LITTLEST PET SHOP, one of the most iconic collectible toy brands in history, will be making its much anticipated return to Australia in 2024. First released by leading toy and game company Hasbro in 1992, the relaunch of LITTLEST PET SHOP will be driven by a multi-year Master Toy partnership between Hasbro and Basic Fun!. As a part of its distribution agreement with Basic Fun!, leading Australia & New Zealand toy distributor Banter Toys & Collectibles will see the smash hit collectible returning to shelves in March, 2024.
“We are thrilled to be working alongside Basic Fun! to bring this beloved brand back to Australia” said Kris Thompson, CEO of Banter Toys. “As passionate collectors ourselves, we can’t wait to bring this legacy brand of adorable pets to our retailers, and into the hands of the next generation of collectors”.
With over 1 billion pets sold worldwide, since the brand’s initial launch over 30 years ago, there have been over 3,000 pets for the LITTLEST PET SHOP fandom to collect, display and trade. As a testament to its legacy status, LITTLEST PET SHOP’s signature quirky, edgy, and undeniably cute pets remain ever popular with kids and kidult collectors today.
Alongside the initial toy launch is a new LITTLEST PET SHOP Experience on Roblox, going live in December 2023, which will provide LPS fans a whole new way to interact with these loveable Pets in the digital space, as well.
“We are thrilled to partner with Suit Up Games and Hasbro to bring LITTLEST PET SHOP to Roblox,” said Maureen Dilger, Vice President of Global Brand Marketing of Basic Fun! “The iconic brand was one of the original toys to grow through its vibrant social media community. LPS is a natural fit for Roblox – the most popular immersive platform in the world for today’s LITTLEST PET SHOP fans to connect.”
As an increasingly social space, Roblox has quickly grown to over 66 million daily active users across the globe, who communicate, explore, and connect through immersive experiences on the Roblox platform.
“There is still huge demand for LITTLEST PET SHOP. This new generation of LITTLEST PET SHOP incorporates the iconic features of the original pets that we know and love, while also expanding into a new ‘phygital’ world that is native to today’s kids.” says Kris Thompson. “There’s some pretty exciting features coming to collectors”.
Banter Toys & Collectibles will be offering a sneak peek of the new toys at the 2024 Australian Toy Hobby and Licensing Fair, which will be held in Melbourne from February 11 to 14.
